Allahabad, April 11 A Fast track court here has held a High Court advocate couple guilty of murder and sentenced them to life imprisonment, besides imposing a fine of Rs 10,000.
Additional District Judge AK Vishvesh observed on Friday that there were several evidence that pointed to the involvement of Ajay Mishra and Jaya Mishra in the murder of Deepak Tulsiyani, a prominent businessman. He was shot dead at the couple's home on the night of April 25, 2005.
Ajay and Jaya had told the police that Deepak did come to their house on that night but they did not kill him. They had said Deepak consumed liquor and then shot himself with his licensed pistol after Jaya had an altercation with his wife over telephone.
The postmortem report, however, did not confirm the presence of alcohol in Deepak's body. On the other hand, the forensic report indicated that there were fingerprints of several other persons on the pistol. It turned out that even the place of murder was not the drawing room, as the accused couple had claimed. The report indicated that the murder took place in their bedroom.
