PATNA: Bihar government on Thursday asked leaders of various lawyers' associations to submit their demands by way of a memorandum for consideration.Over 80,000 lawyers across the state on Thursday suspended their ten-day strike against steep hike in court fees after a three-judge bench headed by acting Chief Justice C K Prasad stayed the operationalisation of government order pending disposal of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) challenging the measure.Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Sushil Kumar Modi said next round of talks with the leaders of lawyers' association would take place on April 28 before which its members should submit their demands in details so that state government could take a decision on their demands.Yogesh Chandra Verma, convener of coordination committee of the three associations of Patna High Court lawyer association directed the lawyers associated with various bars to suspend strike following high court order. The state government, through an extra-ordinary gazette notification, which was communicated to the high court registrar on February 19, doubled the court fees in most cases and increased the fee four Times in case of filing PIL.State government has constituted a high-level ministerial committee headed by deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi to consider the grievances of agitating lawyers across the state over court fee hike.
