Giving relief to a 70-year-old cancer patient, Delhi High court directed CGHS to administer second dose of the drug to the ailing wife of a government officer despite the fact that both separated 50 years ago.A bench comprising Chief Justice A P Shah and Justice S Murlidhar directed the hospital to continue the treatment of the old woman on the CGHS card of the husband till the matter relating to their divorce petition is resolved in the court.Vimla Devi got married to Jai Kishan in 1956. The marriage fell apart and they separated in 1958. Since then the divorce petition is pending without any outcome. She was detected with breast cancer recently and has now moved the court stating that since there was no outcome of the divorce petition, she is the legally wedded wife of Jai Kishan, hence entitled to the treatment out of her husband’s CGHS card.UNI
