No stay on construction of Mundra SEZ - Adani

Adani Group has clarified that the court has not stayed construction work as per Gujarat High Court’s recent order that no creeks near the Mundra Special Economic Zone shall be filled till August 7th 2008, its promoters the Reacting to the inaccurate reports circulated by vested interests that the High Court has granted stay against construction activity at Mundra, Adani in a statement said that the Supreme Court had dismissed public interest litigation as withdrawn.It said that “Certain people claiming to be fishermen had moved the PIL in the SC and obtained a stay on July 1st. When the company presented the facts to the apex court, the petitioners sought the court’s permission to withdraw the petition and a stay until they moved the Gujarat High Court.”The release added that “The petitioners moved the High Court asking for a status quo to be maintained for construction activity in the entire Mundra SEZ. The High Court ordered notices to be issued and posted the matter for hearing on August 7, while directing that a reply be filed on or before August 4.”Adani has also assured that the company has no intention of filling any creek.
