DA case: Patna HC admits appeal against Lalu
PATNA: The Patna High Court on Thursday admitted for hearing the Bihar government's appeal against the acquittal of Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and his wife Rabri Devi in the disproportionate asset (DA) case, arising out of the multi-crore fodder scam. CBI special judge (Patna) had acquitted Lalu and Rabri of the charges of amassing property disproportionate to the former's known source of income during his tenure as chief minister when the fodder scam was unearthed. Rabri was made co-accused for abetting Lalu in this regard Admitting the appeal, Justice R K Datta called for records of the DA case from the CBI special court, which had earlier acquitted the duo. Justice Datta maintained it was not possible to hear the entire matter at the admission stage to dispose of the state government appeal and that it required detailed hearing.
