The Karnataka High Court has admitted a public interest litigation (PIL) challenging the Centre's move to close down the existing HAL airport after the new Bangalore International Airport commenced operation from March 30.A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph and Mr Justice B V Nagarathna directed the state and Centre governments to take notice of the petition and ordered issue of notices to Airports Authority of India and other respondents.The petitioners G R Mohan, V Krishna Bhat, R K Mishra and others submitted that the closing down of the existing airport would cause inconvenience and hardship to short haul air passengers.The petition was posted to March 25 for further hearing.Thursday, March 13, 2008
