MLA appears before HC

e

Congress MLA Komireddy Ramulu on Wednesday appeared in person before Justice N.Ram Mohan Rao of the A.P. High court to purge himself of allegations of Contempt. The judge granted time to the MLA till the second week of April to file his written response. The judge had earlier ordered the presence of the MLA in a contempt case filed by 4 BJP Councillors of the Metpally Municipal council.
It was their case that despite directions from the court they were being for a long time under one pretext or the other prevented from participating in the council meetings. They alleged that earlier when a resolution to suspend them was challenged before the court they withdrew the same .
However the Chairperson, it is alleged at the instance of the said MLA sought to disqualify them on the ground that they had failed to attend three consequent meetings. In the contempt case it is alleged that this was done contrary to the undertaking before the High Court and at the instance of the Congress MLA.
The days proceedings was not without its element of drama. When the MLA was not present in the court the judge pointed out that the court was left with no alternative than probably issue a warrant for his presence. The matter was then taken up in the afternoon when the MLA appeared with his counsel K. Ashok Reddy. The MLA defended his absence in the earlier part of the day by stating that the notice of the court was not brought to his notice by his Secretary.
