House sites: HC orders status quo

Hyderabad, April 20: A Division Bench of the A.P. High Court comprising Nooty Rama Mohana Rao and C. V. Nagarjuna Reddy ordered status quo on the government orders allotting house sites to societies formed by officers of IAS, IPS and Income Tax Department, journalists, High Court judges and MLAs and MPs.
The specially constituted Bench was admitting a writ petition filed by Chelikani B. Rao and another person. The petitioners complained that the letter and spirit of earlier judgment of the High Court in earlier round of litigation was violated by the government.
The petitioners said that though there was a ban on allotment of house sites in prime localities and within the outer ring road limits, these allotments had been made. The counsel for the government and some of the societies to whom the allotments had been made informed the Bench that except two societies, money had been paid and lands registered in the name of the societies and in some cases allotments made.
The Bench opined that prima facie the earlier judgment had not been implemented. It said that no further registration, allotment to individual members and or development works on the lands should be done by either by the societies and or by the individual members. The Bench said that the government was responsible for implementation of status quo. The case is listed to August 8 for final hearing.
