NEW DELHI: The Haryana government, notorious for its frequent decisions to write off dues owed to various departments from farmers, has been chastised by SC for pleading incapacity to bring in pay parity for a PSU whose employees performed jobs identical to those in the government. Challenging a Punjab and Haryana High Court order directing pay revision at par with government employees for engineers of the Haryana State Minor Irrigation Tubewells Corporation, the state had pleaded that the corporation was running in losses and was unable to meet the additional financial burden. Rejecting the state's appeal, a Bench comprising Justices R V Raveendran and L S Panta said: "When anomaly in the pay-scales of government engineers was rectified, the rectification should apply to corporation engineers also to maintain parity."
