VHP: Resolve Ayodhya issue by Parliament Act

NEW DELHI, Apr 20: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad wants that the long-pending dispute over the temple at Ram Janmabhumi in Ayodhya should be resolved by an act of Parliament. The VHP leader, Mr Ashok Singhal, said today that if the temple of Ram Lala could not be established by the court then the MPs should get around and do it by an act of the Parliament. The VHP has been campaigning for long for the Ram temple at Ayodhya where the Babri Masjid once stood. Mr Singhal was speaking on the occasion of the release of a book, ‘Rama Setu: Symbol of National Unity,’ written by Janata Party leader Subramaniam Swamy, here today. Mr Swamy said the book talks about the multiple advantages of the Setu and why it should be preserved. Mr Singhal, speaking on the Setu issue, said that the Sethusamudram project should be scrapped altogether. He alleged that certain anti-national forces were trying to destroy the Hindu culture in the country and appealed to the people to fight against them. Swamy Dayananda Saraswati, who released the book, said the issue of Ram Sethu was not negotiable. The RSS leader, Mr Mohan Bhagwat, who also addressed the function, took exception to what he called a “trend to defy” the existence of Lord Ram.
