CHANDIGARH: The controversy over appointments of some presidents and women members of various district consumer forums in Punjab came to a happy end on Friday. Amol Rattan Singh, additional advocate general, Punjab, informed the division bench comprising Chief Justice Vijender Jain and Justice Jaswant Singh, that these appointments had been cleared by the government. "Importantly, the said appointments were earlier hanging fire due to a difference of opinion between the selection committee headed by the then president of Punjab State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission RS Mongia and food and supplies minister," HC Arora, who had filed a PIL on the issue, told TOI. Arora had filed a PIL for issuance of directions to the state government to clear all the appointments.
