HC directive to Kurnool SP on arrest warrant

Hyderabad, April 25: JUSTICE CV Nagarjuna Reddy of the High Court directed the Kurnool district superintendent of police to file a detailed affidavit as to why the police could not execute a warrant against TG Srikanth of Adoni.
Justice Reddy was hearing a writ petition filed by Wall Street Finance of Mumbai wherein it was complained that the accused had obtained a loan of Rs 68 lakh and that he had executed cheques for repayment and that when the cheques were presented for realisation they were dishonoured.
The petitioner had filed cases against the accused in 1998. As the accused had failed to appear in the court, the court had issued warrants and that the police were not executing the warrants. The bench directed the matter to be posted to next week.
NIZAMABAD CINEMA: The judge directed the management of Pavan Cinema Theatre in Nizamabad to break open the locks and exhibit films. A writ was filed before the court stating that the police had, in a highhanded manner, closed down the cinema theatre and locked it up. It was argued that the police did not have the authority to do so.
Assistant government pleader Rachana submitted to the court that the police had not interfered with the exhibition of films in the theatre.
The petitioner’s counsel said the police had the keys with them and were refusing to hand over the keys to the management.
Justice Reddy directed the management to break open the locks.
FISHERMEN’S PLEA: Justice Nooty Rammohana Rao admitted a writ petition filed by Satyanarayana of Fisherman’s Society challenging GO Ms No 228 by which GO Ms No 913 was suspended.
The petitioner submitted that according to GO Ms No 913, the government had directed that no hills should be acquired or sold and 15% of polts in a layout be allotted to weaker sections.
The government withdrew GO 913 on the ground that the earlier GO was a ‘stumbling block to urban development’. Justice Rao admitted the writ petition and ordered that all further actions are subject to the result of the writ petition.
