PATNA: The state government would set up juvenile justice boards in all the 38 districts within two months. Chief secretary R J M Pillai stated this in an affidavit submitted to the Patna High Court on Friday. The affidavit, which was filed during the course of the hearing of a PIL moved by advocate Shashank Shekhar, also stated that children welfare committees would be constituted in three months and children protection units would be made functional within six months. A division bench of acting Chief Justice Chandramauli Kumar Prasad and Justice J N Singh, which heard the PIL, however, expressed concern over the fact that no time frame has been set for setting up special juvenile police units and directed the chief secretary to file a specific affidavit in this regard within a week.
