Speaker reserves judgement in TRS rebel MLAs issue

HYDERABAD : After completing hearing into TRS rebel MLAs disqualification issue, the Assembly Speaker, K.R. Suresh Reddy reserved the judgement. He hold a record 22 sittings on this issue.
The proceedings started with the complaint made by TRS that nine rebel MLAs, who had voted to independent candidate Kasani Gyaneswar in MLC elections defeating party’s official candidate had violated the whip issued by the party. TRS has been insisting that the nine rebel MLAs should loose their membership under People’s Representation Act.
The complaint was lodged by the TRS whip, Padma Reddy and the floor leader in the Assembly,K. Vijaya Rama Rao. Alleging delayed tactics of the speaker to rescue the rebel MLAs, the TRS also filed a case in this regard in the Supreme Court.
However, the apex court directed them to seek justice first at the appropriate forum. The TRS is now preparing to approach the Supreme Court if the Speaker’s judgement did not come as expected.
TRS senior leader G. Vijayarama Rao asking the Speaker Suresh Reddy to spell out his decision on party rebel MLAs, he warned that any further delay in the judgment would only put to stake the goodwill of the Speaker.
He recalled that in a case involving MLA Ravi S Naik of Goa Assembly, dismissal was meted for defecting and the decision was taken in just three days. In another case involving MLA Viswanath of Tamil Nadu Assembly, the decision dismissing him was taken in 45 days.
