All steps taken for HC Bench: Home Minister

T'PURAM: Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan told the Assembly on Wednesday that the State Government had taken all steps to institute a High Court Bench in the capital. While replying to the discussion on the demand for grants in the Budget, Balakrishnan said it was the High Court and the Union Government who should take the next step in this issue."The Union Government allotted two circuit benches in Karnataka recently. But, the demand of Kerala is being ignored," said the Minister. He said the State Government was pressurising the Union Government for a favourable decision."An amount of Rs 50 lakh has been earmarked in the present Budget for setting up a High Court Bench in Thiruvananthapuram. We can initiate necessary steps whenever the Centre gives its nod," said Balakrishnan. While taking part in the discussion, V. Sivankutty had said that all efforts should be made by the Government to ensure the establishment of a High Court Bench in the capital.
