BANGALORE: Atul Rao's wife Meera filed a habeas corpus petition in the Karnataka High Court on Tuesday, seeking a direction to the police to produce her husband before the court. In her petition, Meera stated her husband has been missing since June 14. She claimed the police have not produced him in any court of law and alleged he may be under illegal detention. Atul Rao, who took Padmapriya to Delhi, probably has a lot of information about the circumstances leading to her death. He is MLA Raghupathi Bhat's friend. It's been revealed that Atul was also involved in land dealings. The HC had earlier sent him notices in three petitions filed by NRIs. The petitioners claimed they have no connection with GPAs executed by Atul and Joseph Chacko with about 120 NRIs on purchase of property in Bangalore. Several NRIs filed complaints against Joseph Chacko, claiming they were cheated of several crores of rupees in land deals regarding sites and houses.
