Kerala HC ratifies Pariyaram Medical College Board election

The Kerala High Court today ratified the election to the Pariyaram Medical College Director Board, rejecting the petitions of former state minister M V Raghavan and others challenging the poll.Justice Thottathil B Radhakrishnan observed that the minute book and file of the Returning Officer showed that there was proper election. There was no room to hold that the procedure adopted by the Returning Officer was bad, the Court added. It also observed that no complaint was made either before the cooperative authorities or to the police officials regarding bogus voting. The Court observed that as the acts of the Returning Officer were official, the Court can only persume them to be proper unless proved to the contrary.Besides former ministers M V Raghavan and K Sudhakaran, nearly 250 members of the Pariyaram Cooperative Medical College Society had petitioned the Court, contending that they were not allowed to vote in the elections held last year.UNIwww.indlawnews.com; Monday, April 14, 2008
