Pinarayi should apologise for flaying HC: Jacob

PALAKKAD: The criticism of the observations of the Kerala High Court in the Kannur killings case by CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan was in bad taste and he should withdraw the statement and apologise to the people, according to Kerala Congress (Jacob) chairman T.M. Jacob.Addressing mediapersons here on Thursday T.M.Jacob said that it has become usual for the CPM to criticise each and everything which was not in favour of the party.Parambikulam-Aliyar Pact: The State Government in its bid to go ahead with the Athir apilly water falls hydel electric project has given an affidavit in the High Court that Kerala was getting its due share of water from Tamil Nadu under the Parambikulam- Aliyar Pact (PAP).Kerala was entitled to 12.3 tmc feet of water under the PAP annually from the Tamil Nadu Sholayar basin. This agreement has always been breached by Tamil Nadu. The admission in the affidavit that the Kerala Sholayar was regularly receiving its due share of water from the Tamil Nadu Sholayar basin was intended to undertake the Athirapilly project which is below the Kerala Sholayar.He said that as the Chairman of the Legislative committee to look into the inter-state river water sharing agreement, he had submitted a report which lists six violations of the PAP by Tamil Nadu.The affidavit now clearly negates the Kerala contention till now that it was not being given its due share of water under the PAP.
