HC refuses to cancel bail of MP's private secretary

Chennai, April 03 : Madras High Court today dismissed an appeal petition, filed by the Annamalai Nagar police seeking to cancel the anticipatory bail granted to Mr Rajendran, private secretary to Mr M A M Ramaswamy, MP, and pro-chancellor of the Annamalai University, in a murder case. Dismissing the petition, Mr Justice K N Basha said there was no merit or proper reason to cancel the anticipatory bail granted to Mr Rajendran by the lower court.
Mr Rajendran was arraigned as the prime accused by the Annamalai Nagar polcie, along with two others. As per the FIR, one Sivasamy, an employee of the varsity, was murdered by a gang inside the varsity campus on January 30 last at the instigation of Mr Rajendran.
Mr Rajendran had filed an anticipatory bail petition in the Cuddalore Sessions Court and the same was granted on condition. The Annamalai Nagar police then preferred an appeal in the High Court, submitting that after obtaining the bail, Mr Rajendran was threatening the wife of the deceased and her brother to withdraw the complaint against him. - Bureau Report
