HC whip on realty dispute

Ranchi, May 8: Jharkhand High Court today directed the state housing board chairman to decide on its dispute with private builders.
The matter was placed before the court when private companies Modi Projects and Simplex Industries sued the board for not allowing them to proceed with their construction work. The bench directed the construction companies to approach the chairman of the board to resolve the dispute.
The companies said the board had floated tenders inviting private construction parties to construct on their vacant land. The petitioner said they had fulfilled all the criteria as mentioned by the board in the notice inviting tenders and were duly selected.
Local residents had objected to the construction and subsequently the board did not allow continuation of the project. The board’s action was questioned in the Assembly.
Chief minister Madhu Koda is set to have issued verbal instructions to board managing director Abraham Rauna to stop construction work. Rauna was later suspended for not carrying out the order on time. He has challenged his suspension in court.
